#ChicasInTech is an initiative of Fundación Esplai to encourage more girls and adolescents to choose vocations related to technology, which has been in operation since 2018. At Fundación Esplai we are committed to training, raising awareness and promoting technological skills in girls and young people, as well as the incorporation of the gender perspective in all our projects.
Competencies in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) are basic and recommended in lifelong learning. In a society where technologies are increasingly present, it is crucial that those who design these technologies are people with diversities of gender, ethnicity and culture, among others. The inclusion of girls and adolescents in the STEAM field involves humanizing Science and Technology themselves, remembering that they are not neutral, but one more opportunity to educate a citizenry committed to social and ethical values.
